When you see Elizabeth and Robert, you immediately notice the pure love they share. The way they look at each other, talk about each other, and the sheer feeling of excitement about marrying each other, just radiates everywhere. Having photographed their engagement session earlier in the year, I was already familiar with their love story. I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding at Eden at Gracefield in Walterboro, SC.
The couple was originally looking for a proper Charleston wedding venue, but Eden at Gracefield’s expansive, beautiful estate and wonderful staff won them over. Being less than an hour from Charleston, Eden has the same southern charm, without having to be in or too close to the city. Eden boasts lush gardens, beautiful light, spanish moss covered oaks, and just so much more. It is truly a hidden gem of a wedding venue!
I started photographing with Elizabeth getting ready, at the beautiful and charming Edisto House on the property. Not only is this the perfect house for newleyweds to spent their wedding night, it’s absolutely a stunner – beautiful light pours into the entrance, with the livingroom as the centerpiece. A beautiful loft bedroom overlooks the area. Down the hall is a second bedroom and lovely bathroom. The house is perfect for a bridal suite, as it has ample space for multiple people to relax and get ready, with all of that beautiful natural light that pours in.
The couple decided to have a first look before their wedding ceremony. Because of this, we had ample time to photograph portraits in many of Eden’s picturesque locations. They also chose to pray together before the wedding ceremony. I love that they shared this moment together, as their faith is very important to them. It was a beautiful, meaningful moment!
The ceremony space at an Eden at Gracefield wedding is MAGICAL. The couple is married with a beautiful backdrop of golden light filtering through Spanish moss covered oak trees, surrounded by more oaks and a lush lawn. Personal touches were included, which made the ceremony even more special.
I loved that we had so much time after the ceremony to explore Eden at Gracefield. All of the beautiful golden light, oak trees, and lush lawn leading to the huge reception barn lended to absolutely breathtaking images that I just adore. We had a blast with Elizabeth’s flowing veil and walking through the trees.
The couple entered the candlelit reception through the barn doors, and straight into their romantic first dance. A wedding at Eden at Gracefield can be grand. Since the couple has a large family and many friends, all were wonderfully accommodated, with plenty of room to enjoy and dance the night away!
One of my favorite things to do at a wedding reception is to take the couple back outside for sunset or nighttime portraits. We took Elizabeth and Robert outside just before dusk to explore some more of the landscape. We crossed a lovely lit bridge and had some fun with lighting by the lake, to take advantage of the little bit of sunset that remained. After we crossed back over the bridge to the barn, some beautiful, memorable opportunities arose! I love the images of Elizabeth and Robert enjoying their time and relaxing for a bit outside the barn.
After these enchanting portaits, we headed back to the barn to dance the night away! Latin music filled the air, and everyone was on the dance floor having a great time. We ended the night with a beautiful sparkler send off, the perfect way to end such a lively day!
I am honored to have captured these memories for such a great couple! Eden at Gracefield is such a lovely venue. The venue has so many beautiful areas. The staff pays attention to every detail. With so much to offer and its proximity to Charleston, any couple will be over the moon to have Eden host their special day!
